2nd Attempt at a $700 billion Bailout

We are faced with a second attempt coming at Congress by Thursday, October 2nd, to get a bailout bill through the House of Representatives. So today and Wednesday, October 1st we need to cause a cry that Congress can not fail to hear from We the People.

Let me make a few action suggestions for citizens to take ACTION:

1) warn everyone you know via e-mail or phone to help us stop the $700-BILLION Bailout of failed corporations. These Wall Street giants are begging our government to rescue them from their imprudent lending habits and over-extension of credit to sub-prime borrowers (high-risk, unqualified, borrowers). Ask friends, relatives, neighbors to contact Congress.  One easy way is via the CapWiz website: http://capwiz.com/jbs/home

2) Please, ask politely, but firmly, to thank Congressman Jim Matheson and Congressman Rob Bishop for voting against the first Bailout bill on Monday, but hold firm against the revised version that will be reintroduced on Thursday, October 2nd.  Remind these congressmen, we need them to vote NO again for any kind of tax-payer bailout of the Wall Street businesses.

These failed businesses need to go bankrupt and be reorganized and have some assets liquidated to correct their failures. Lame-duck Chris Cannon voted "yes" on the bailout, so he's the #1 priority for attention!  (Of course, he can't be threatened with loss of his job, since he's already lost it come January 2009.) Polite persuasion and reminding him of how he will go down in history and be talked about for years to come might help him change his vote to NO.

Congressman Chris Cannon: Provo Phone: (801) 379-2500   Washington Phone: (202) 225-7751
                                          Provo Fax:        (801) 379-2509   Washington Fax:     (202) 225-5629
For in person visits, his Provo office is: 51 South University Ave., # 319, Provo, Utah 84606

Thank these two, but remind them to hold firm against the socializing of losses through a bailout:

3) While we phone, fax, and e-mail the three Utah congressmen on this bailout topic like a hurricane of opposition; let us also contact newspapers with letters-to-the-editor against the bailout sent by both e-mail and fax. It's too late to mail them letters by snail mail. Especially, let's target the Salt Lake Tribune, The Desert Morning News, The Ogden Standard Examiner, and the Daily Herald and local papers today or Wednesday. Clog their fax machine with letters against the Bailout!

Deseret Morning News:  Fax (801) 437-7624    www.desnews.com
Salt Lake Tribune:        Fax (801) 257-8690     www.sltrib.com
The Daily Herald:          Fax (801) 373-5489
Standard Examiner       Fax (801) 625-4299
Spectrum:                    Fax (435) 674-6265

4) Let's send emails and faxes to our Utah State Legislators and ask them to contact Congressman Chris Cannon to change his YES vote to NO on the bailout. Maybe Chris will listen to Legislators if he won't listen to us. Send the Legislators this website (below) to read what Art Thompson said about the bailout and to watch the video clip at the end:

Find legislators e-mails at: www.le.utah.gov  They need to help save our state from this possible Federal Congressional decision to subjugate Utahans and other Americans to $700-billion of debt for the banksters. If we enlist legislators to help us, we can remind them that the State Legislatures were orignially supposed to be a watchdog over the federal government.

a few of the Utah State Senators:
Senator Gregory S. Bell, Fruit Heights  gbell@utahsenate.org
Senator Curtis S. Bramble, Provo     cbramble@utahsenate.org
Senator Chris Buttars, West Jordan   dcbuttars@utahsenate.org
Sen. Allen Christensen, Odgen    achristensen@utahsenate.org
Sen. Gene Davis (D) SLC,      gdavis@utahsenate.org    (he's Minority Whip)
Sen. Mike Dmitrich, Price     mdmitrich@utahsenate.org
Sen. Dan Eastman, Bountiful   deastman@utahsenate.org

5)  The more opinion molders we contact, convince and involve in opposition to the bailout, the more our U.S. Congressmen will understand that we mean business every step of the way!  Why not also contact Senators Hatch and Bennett to ask them to let our House members know that a YES vote is not acceptable. We thus give Hatch and Bennett the message, even as we seek to mobilize them to our side.

God bless you all in your efforts to preserve freedom.
